How To Know It's Coming!
A man knows it in his gut. He feels it. He tastes it. And it doesn't taste anything like
eight year old bourbon -- except maybe on the way back up.
You'll Feel A Loss Of Control
Your family life will seem separate from your life, almost like it belonged to some other poor bozo. Family life will have taken on a life of its own and it won't be your life. Or
what you want your life to be. You may even discover that neighbors or the hardware store
lady seem to know more about what's happening with your wife and kids than you do.
You'll Feel A Loss Of Hope
Those feelings that it will all work out okay will have disappeared
long ago. You
won't be able to imagine the rest of your life being like it's been the last year without wanting to reach for a bottle or a 12 gauge -- but that may just seem like too much trouble.
You Just Won't Give A Damn
You won't stop loving anybody. But you'll know you aren't in love with your wife any more.
When she walks by you naked on her way to the bathroom, or says she's taking in a movie
with her girlfriends, or says she's sending the kids to camp, it'll be about as important
to you as some movie you saw once that had the same thing in it and now can't remember the
movie's name. And you don't care to.
You'll Know It In Your Cojones
It's time to get the hell out of this sad-ass existence, and to get on with your damn life.
Analyze The Situation
Going into battle without a clear concept of your objective, the terrain, the battlefield
conditions, and where the land mines are planted is suicide. You must know the enemy,
anticipate their attacks, understand the weak points in their defenses and prepare
contingency plans for every situation.
Focus On Your Objective
What you're fighting for is the ability to stay who your are, and to keep what
you have now. Because, Bubba, what you've got is what she and her bloodsucking lawyer are
gonna legally steal from you unless you can stop them cold.
Checkout The Terrain
It's America's Judicial System. And you ain't got the high ground. (See the Terrain Map
of the Divorce Process in the Map Section.)
Avoid The Major Landmines
Every cog in the divorce machine gets it's grease by squeezing it out of you. The laws
were made to extend the process. To require legal system leeches like attorneys and
accountants and counselors. The longer the process lasts, the more grease these scavengers
get. More
